This creamy protein porridge is a quick, filling breakfast that balances slow-releasing oats with an easy boost of protein. Mashed banana gives the oats natural sweetness and a soft, comforting texture, while vanilla protein powder adds flavour without making the mixture heavy. A spoonful of peanut butter and fresh blueberries finishes each bowl with richness and freshness. It is ready in around ten minutes and works equally well with dairy or unsweetened plant-based milk.

Ingredients

· 50 g rolled oats
· 200 ml milk
· 100 ml water
· ½ ripe banana
· ½ tsp ground cinnamon
· 25 g vanilla protein powder
· 1 tbsp smooth peanut butter
· 50 g fresh blueberries
Method

- Mash the banana: Place the banana in a small bowl and mash thoroughly with a fork until mostly smooth.
- Combine the ingredients: Put the oats, milk, 70 ml of the water, mashed banana and cinnamon into a small saucepan. Stir everything together.
- Cook the porridge: Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring regularly, until the oats are soft and creamy.
- Add the protein: Remove the saucepan from the heat and leave it for 1 minute. Mix the protein powder with the remaining 30 ml water to form a smooth paste, then stir it thoroughly into the porridge.
- Serve: Spoon the porridge into a bowl. Top with the peanut butter and scatter over the blueberries before serving.
Tip: Mixing the protein powder into a paste before adding it helps prevent dry or lumpy patches. Avoid boiling the porridge again after the protein powder has been stirred in.
